Employment of property and real estate managers is expected to increase as fast as the average for all occupations through 2033, according to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). The best opportunities will be for college graduates with degrees in real estate, business administration, and related fields, and for those who also secure a professional designation.
Opportunities for property and real estate managers with experience in managing housing for older people or in running health care facilities should be good in the coming years. The increase in the aging population is causing greater need for senior housing. Also, because of the growth of the population in general, there will be greater need for developments managed by third-party property managers, including apartment buildings, condominiums, and homeowner associations. Job openings are also expected to occur as older, experienced managers transfer to other occupations or leave the labor force.
