Space Systems Operators

Advancement Prospects

Military space systems operators advance by receiving promotions and pay raises. Operators in the U.S. Air Force or Space Force typically begin at the Airman Basic (E1), and then advance to Airman (E2), Airman First Class (E3), and Senior Airman (E4) ranks. With additional training, operators can be promoted to the position of space operations officer, who oversees a team of operators and manages entire space operations systems. In the private sector, operators may advance to similar managerial positions. Others are promoted to executive-level roles.
