Underwater Welders

Some underwater welders are members of the United Association-Union of Plumbers, Fitters, Welders, and Service Techs; International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers; the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers; the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America; and other unions. Those who are members of unions often have a better chance of landing a job. They often receive higher pay and better benefits than those who are not members of unions. Useful professional associations and organizations for welders include the American Welding Society and the CWB Association (which represents the professional interests of welders in Canada). Women Who Weld is a nonprofit organization that offers low-cost welding training to women.
