With more than 285 million vehicles in operation today in the United States, automobile service technicians should feel confident that a good percentage will require servicing and repair. This is especially true because the average age of cars and light trucks on American roads keeps increasing, and older cars and trucks typically require more maintenance and repair than newer models. The average age of cars and light trucks in the U.S. increased to a record 12.5 years in 2023, according to an analysis from S&P Global Mobility.
