The U.S. Department of Labor predicts faster than average employment growth, relative to all other professions, through 2028 for community and social service specialists, the closest labor market category to political campaign workers. The media has become even more important in a political campaign. Campaign workers in the coming years will have to possess a good understanding of the use of the Internet, social media (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, SnapChat, and YouTube), TV, streaming campaign videos over the Internet, and radio in gathering voter support. Maintaining a Web page and social media presence, through Twitter and other sites, have proven to be a popular way of educating the public about a candidate; mass e-mails, however, often provoke hostility among Internet users. Campaign workers will be involved in devising new methods to communicate with voters and attract more people to campaign Web sites. Those with experience in market research and political campaigns can look forward to a rapidly growing market for their services.
