Non-Fungible Token Artists

Outlook

The jury is still out on whether non-fungible tokens will remain popular or if they will be replaced by yet another art/technology sensation. Some believe that the processes of creating, buying, selling, and storing NFTs will become increasingly frictionless—which will encourage more people to get involved with NFTs. On the other hand, others don’t understand what all the fuss—and multi-million dollar sales—are about because owning an NFT does not prohibit non-owners from accessing it (in the same manner, for example, that people view photos and prints of the original Mona Lisa). Additionally, a large amount of electricity is required to mine Ether and other cryptocurrencies. This significant use of electricity creates greenhouse gas emissions that damage the environment—which is a turnoff for some aspiring artists and collectors.
