Certification or Licensing

There is no certification available for tattoo artists, but artists must take classes or otherwise obtain knowledge of infection control practices, appropriate methods of waste disposal, and related topics, and provide proof of this education to state or local governing bodies. All tattoo artists must be licensed. Requirements often include the completion of a certain number of training hours and a set number of tattoos completed under close supervision by a licensed artist.
