The median annual salary of astronomers was $127,930 in May 2023, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The lowest paid 10 percent earned less than $56,500, and the highest paid 10 percent earned more than $183,500. Fifty percent of astronomers earned between $80,950 and $232,940. Physicists earned salaries that ranged from less than $59,300 to $193,280 or more annually. Fifty percent of physicists earned between $112,610 and $186,330. In July 2024, Glassdoor.com reported salaries for astrophysicists that ranged from $102,000 to $187,000 or more.
