Food Service Workers

UNITE HERE is the principal union for waiters, food counter workers, bartenders, waiters’ assistants, and kitchen helpers; however, not all workers are union members. Other organizations that provide useful resources, training, and professional support to food service workers include the National Restaurant Association and Educational Foundation and the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education. The American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute provides certification. Restaurants Canada and the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management provide resources to food service workers who live in Canada.
