Grounds managers spend part of their time outside and a portion of their workday in an office. Most of the outdoor work is done during daylight hours, but work takes place all year round in all types of weather conditions. Most people in the field work 37 to 40 hours a week, but overtime is especially likely during the summer months when grounds managers take advantage of the longer days and warmer weather. Workweeks may be shorter during the winter. Weekend work is highly likely. Grounds managers should be willing to work overtime to ensure project deadlines are met and business records are maintained accurately.
