Heating and cooling technicians had median salaries of $57,300 in May 2023, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $37,270 annually, while the top 10 percent earned more than $84,250 annually. Fifty percent of heating and cooling technicians earned between $46,550 and $71,120.

Heating and cooling apprentices usually earn about 50 percent of the wage rate paid to experienced workers. This percentage rises as apprentices gain experience and skill training in the field.
