Job opportunities for housekeepers and maids are expected to increase by 1 percent through 2033, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. This is slower than the average for all careers. Despite this prediction, job opportunities are expected to be good. This is a large field, and there will always be a need for housekeepers and maids to help keep homes and businesses clean. In addition to employment in private homes, opportunities should be especially strong in hotels and in the health care industry.
Each year, many maids leave the profession because of the low pay, demanding work conditions, limited advancement potential, and the public perception that this work carries a low social status. As a result there will be many job openings for maids.
