Personnel and Labor Relations Specialists

Certification, Licensing, and Special Requirements

Certification or Licensing

Some organizations for human resources professionals offer certification programs, which usually consist of a series of classes and a test. For example, the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans offers the certified employee benefits specialist designation to candidates who complete a series of college-level courses and pass exams on employee benefits plans. The Society for Human Resource Management, WorldatWork, and the Public Sector HR Association also provide certification credentials. Though voluntary, certification is highly recommended and can improve chances for advancement. No licensing is required for personnel and labor relations specialists.
