Race Car Drivers

Employment Prospects

Employers

Drivers are usually affiliated with auto racing bodies such as Formula One, INDYCAR, National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (better known as NASCAR), National Auto Sport Association, and the National Hot Rod Association. Some drivers are self-employed and compete at the amateur and semi-professional levels.

Starting Out

Most aspiring race car drivers start out in the field by competing in amateur driving competitions. Those with talent advance to progressively more challenging racing circuits. Some race car drivers enter the field by first obtaining experience as pit crew members and in other support positions.
