To become a professional race car driver, you’ll need excellent diving ability and at least five years of experience in amateur racing leagues.
Race car drivers must have top-notch hand-eye coordination, excellent vision, decisiveness, and superior reflexes and dexterity to compete at high speeds. The average lap speed in a NASCAR race is between 185 and 215 miles per hour. Drivers in Formula One races can reach 210 to 220 miles per hour. Other important traits include confidence, strong communication skills (including during races), and a calm personality under pressure. Racing is physically demanding, so drivers must also be in excellent physical condition.
