Rewilders

Employment Prospects

Employers

Rewilders are employed by any organization that seeks to ecologically restore an area—whether a few acres or hundreds of thousands of acres. Employers include environmental restoration agencies, nature advocacy organizations, and local, state, and federal government agencies that manage and protect land. Some rewilders become consultants and provide their expertise to these organizations.

Starting Out

Rewilders who have a science background typically start out as environmental scientists, range managers, conservationists, environmental technicians, and in other green careers and gradually focus on rewilding positions. Through word-of-mouth, networking events, and online searches, they identify potential employers (rewilding organizations, government agencies, etc.) and apply for open positions.
