Personal Care Aides

History

It was not too far in the past that multiple generations of a family lived together in one house—with the daily needs of the oldest members provided for by the family’s younger members. While this is still true in some instances, many people these days are unable to provide daily care for their parents or grandparents because they have to work or live in other towns or cities. This trend has created a strong demand for dedicated workers to help the elderly, people with disabilities, and others live independently in their homes. In fact, the career of personal care aide ranks amongst the projected fastest-growing occupations in the United States from 2018 to 2028. Approximately 881,000 new positions are expected to become available during this time span.
