Editorial Assistants

History

For as long as newspapers, magazines, and books have been published, editorial assistants have helped editors and other publishing professionals to fact check, proofread, and otherwise ensure that articles and other text are appropriate for publication. Although these positions are entry level in nature, they offer an excellent introduction to the world of publishing. Many top journalists and editors broke into the business as editorial  assistants.

Today's editorial assistants use computers and the Internet to help them do their jobs more quickly and effectively. They remain key support workers in publishing, journalism, broadcasting, and other industries.
