Adult Day Care Coordinators

Outlook

The career outlook for adult daycare coordinators, as for all social assistance workers, is expected to be excellent through 2028. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the number of human services workers is projected to grow tremendously, with elder care being one of the fastest-growing human services areas.

The main reason for this is that the senior citizen population is growing rapidly. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, approximately 35 million Americans were age 65 or older in 2001; the bureau projects this number to increase steadily, reaching approximately 82 million by 2050 as the baby boomer generation ages. This rapid growth has led to the development and increased popularity of aging-related services during the last several years. The increase in adult daycare centers is one example of this trend. According to the National Adult Day Services Association, there were only approximately 300 adult daycare centers in existence by the late 1970s; today, there are more than 5,000. This growth should continue as Americans become increasingly aware of the diverse needs of the elderly and the various service options available to them. Adult daycare is expected to be used more frequently as a cost-efficient and preferable alternative to nursing homes.

During 2024 and 2031, Adult daycare services are expected to rise at a high rate. Though Adult daycare services are growing at a steady rate during 2022, it is expected to continue the same. The United States will play a critical role, which will increase the growth of Adult daycare services considerably.
