Geothermal Technicians

Work Environment

Geothermal technicians work in commercial geothermal power plants and for companies that install and repair geothermal equipment and systems in the residential sector. They work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. They may be exposed to hazardous conditions so they wear safety equipment, such as a hard hat, gloves, safety shoes, etc., when working in production areas and near heavy equipment. They also spend some time in offices, using computers to document and record information about geothermal equipment and operating systems. Geothermal technicians work full-time, with occasional overtime needed when immediate repairs are required and deadlines must be met.
