Line Installers and Cable Splicers

Unions represent many workers, and union membership may be required. Two unions that represent many line installers and cable splicers are the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the Communications Workers of America.

Membership organizations for line installers and cable splicers include the Electronics Technicians Association (ETA) International, Fiber Optic Association (FOA), Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE), and The WICT Network. iNARTE, Electrical Training ALLIANCE, and the Telecommunications Industry Association—along with ETA International, SCTE, and FOA—provide certification. The NCTA-The Internet & Television Association and Telecommunications Industry Association are membership organizations for companies in the industry. The National Alliance for Communications Technology Education and Learning provides educational training to aspiring line installers and cable splicers.
