Rehabilitation Counselors

Rehabilitation counselors who work for government agencies can join the American Federation of Government Employees and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, unions that represent government workers. Membership organizations for counselors include the American Rehabilitation Counseling Association, National Rehabilitation Association, and the National Rehabilitation Counseling Association. The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs accredits counseling education programs. The Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification provides certification. The National Clearinghouse of Rehabilitation Training Materials, which is sponsored by the Rehabilitation Services Administration, provides a wealth of information about rehabilitation counseling.
