Talent Agents and Scouts

Work in a talent agency can be lively and exciting. It is rewarding for agents to watch a client attain success with their help. The work may seem glamorous, allowing agents to rub elbows with the rich and famous and make contacts with the most powerful people in entertainment, sports, fashion, or publishing. Most agents, however, represent less-famous actors, artists, models, authors, and athletes.

Agents' work requires a great deal of stamina and determination in the face of setbacks. The work can be extremely stressful, even in small agencies. It often demands long hours, including evenings and weekends. To remain successful, agents at the top of the industry must constantly network. They spend a great deal of time on the telephone, with both clients and others in the industry, and attending industry functions.
