Electromechanical Engineering Technologists

Outlook

Employment is expected to decline 1.2 percent for electromechanical technicians (a career category that includes EETs) from 2023 to 2033. This prediction is attributed to the decline in manufacturing industries in the United States, where many technologists are employed. However, technologists who work in the computer systems design service sector will continue to have employment opportunities as demand will remain steady for the continual integration of computer and electronics systems, particularly automation systems. Employment in the computer and information technology field is projected to grow much faster than the average through 2033. There will also be job opportunities for electromechanical technologists as growth continues in the technologies that are being included in cars and portable and household electronics systems such as computers, cell phones, and global positioning systems.

Competition will be keen for technologist positions. Electromechanical engineering technologists with a bachelor's degree, certification, and prior work experience will have an advantage in the job market.
