Geriatric care management is a fairly new profession, and, as such, the U.S. Department of Labor does not have specific employment outlook information for geriatric care managers. However, employment opportunities for the more general category of social and community service manager are expected to grow faster than the average for all careers (by 8 percent) through 2033. In fact, much of the job growth will be due to the increase in the aging population and the need to provide services for the elderly. Job opportunities in the field of geriatric care management are excellent, especially for those with advanced educations.
In many aspects, this job represents the replacement of a traditional family function: that of caring for the elderly. As people live longer, as families typically become geographically separated, and as health insurance becomes more complicated, the need for geriatric care managers has grown dramatically. Experts predict this need only to grow in the next decade.
