Methane/Landfill Gas Collection System Operators

Outlook

The Department of Labor forecasts little or no change in employment for industrial production managers through 2028. Stricter environmental regulations regarding landfills and methane and gas collection processes will require the experience of operators to make sure companies' methane/landfill gas collection processes are in compliance. According to Environmental Protection Agency data, there are more than 2,600 municipal solid waste landfills in the U.S. that are accepting waste or have been closed in the past few decades. There are about 578 landfill gas energy projects and about 480 other landfills that have the potential to have their methane converted into energy resources. Methane/landfill gas collection operators with a bachelor's degree, certification, prior work experience, and solid knowledge of landfill gas analysis and facilities management software will have the best chances of securing work.
