Brand Ambassadors

The Job

Job responsibilities for brand ambassadors vary by the employer and the qualifications and level of notoriety of the ambassador. For example, a star athlete who is employed as a brand ambassador by a Fortune 500 company may work an irregular schedule, starring in commercials, attending events, giving interviews to the media, and being involved in other high-profile activities to tout the company’s brand and advertise its products and services. They may also be asked to tout the company’s products and services on their social media feeds.

A brand ambassador who is not as well known or who is a salaried employee of a company has a more-demanding work schedule and additional responsibilities. They promote their employer’s products and services through social media; on television, radio, podcasts, and their own Web sites and blogs; and at special events and via in-store marketing efforts. They conduct product demonstrations and give away free samples. Brand ambassadors at this level monitor and reply to both positive and negative customer feedback online and use word-of-mouth marketing techniques, such as referral incentive programs, to encourage sales. They also study and generate reports about the products and services of competitors in order to obtain a market advantage. Brand ambassadors work closely with their company’s sales and marketing departments to share customer insights and questions in order to improve products and services and develop new sales and marketing strategies.
