Magazine Editors

Most magazine editors work in quiet offices or cubicles. However, even in relatively quiet surroundings, editors can face many distractions. A project editor who is trying to copyedit or review the editing of others may, for example, has to deal with phone calls or e-mails from authors, questions from junior editors, meetings with members of the editorial and production staff, and questions from freelancers, among many other responsibilities.

An often stressful part of the magazine editor's job is meeting deadlines. Magazine editors work in a much more pressurized atmosphere than book editors because they face daily or weekly deadlines, whereas book production usually takes place over several months. Many magazine editors must work long hours during certain phases of the publishing cycle.
