Mechatronics Engineers

Unions and Associations

Some mechatronics engineers may be represented by the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers, the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace, and other unions. In addition, many other organizations provide useful resources. ABET accredits postsecondary engineering education programs. ASME is the primary professional association for mechanical engineers, and it hosts the International Conference on Mechatronic and Embedded Systems and Applications (MESA) in conjunction with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Many electrical/electronics and computer engineers are members of IEEE, Association for Computing Machinery, and the IEEE Computer Society. Other useful organizations include the American Society for Engineering Education, National Society of Professional Engineers, and the Society of Women Engineers.
