Content Management Specialists

Advancement Prospects

Content management specialists advance by receiving pay raises and promotion to higher-level tiers (such as content management specialist II, content management specialist III). Others choose to work for larger employers, which typically provide higher salaries and more attractive fringe benefits. At a large employer, there might be a dedicated content management department, and a CMS could be promoted to head the department. With extensive experience and additional education, a department manager could be promoted to the position of chief information officer, who is responsible for long-term Information Technology (IT) planning and setting organization-wide standards and polices relating to IT/information management. Some CMSs choose to launch their own consulting firms. Others become IT teachers.
