Unions and Associations
Some engineers may be represented by the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (http://www.ifpte.org) and other unions. The Association of Energy Engineers represents the professional interests of engineers who are employed in the renewable energy industry. Major professional organizations for solar engineers include the American Solar Energy Society, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Smart Electric Power Alliance, and the Solar Energy Industries Association. Other professional organizations include the Interstate Renewable Energy Council and the Midwest Renewable Energy Association. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory is a federal laboratory that conducts research in renewable energy and energy efficiency.
