Employers
Swimming pool designers are employed by pool manufacturers that create mass-produced pools or by landscape architecture firms. Some designers launch their own businesses and work directly with customers to design pools, spas, and related structures.
Starting Out
Aspiring designers can learn about job openings via contacts made during internships and other experiential learning opportunities, by using the resources of their college’s career services office, by participating in career fairs and networking events, and by contacting potential employers directly about job prospects. Additionally, the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance offer job listings at https://jobs.phta.org. Those who participate in an informal apprenticeship program may be offered a full-time, junior designer position at the completion of their training.
