Swimming pool designers work in offices and design studios. They also travel to meet clients in their homes and in other settings (hotels, resorts, recreation centers, etc.). Designers spend time outside taking measurements and gathering other information that will help them to create the design.
Working in this career will be rewarding for people who are creative and enjoy interacting with clients and builders. This job can be stressful when clients cannot make decision regarding pool designs, change design plans late in the design process, or have unrealistic expectations about the time it takes to design and construct a pool or its cost. Most designers enjoy their careers because of the constantly changing work environment and their ability to use their creativity to create a pool that is both attractive and functional.
