Tax attorneys work in offices. They travel to meet with clients and may also work at times in the offices of their clients. Most work full-time hours and many work more than 40 hours per week. The work hours can be long for tax attorneys as there is much data to gather, research, read, and analyze. Tax attorneys deal with stress that comes from different places, starting with clients who may be frustrated and upset by the tax issues they are dealing with, to sorting through complicated business documents to identify and solve tax problems. There is also pressure to come up with solutions for clients and complete and file tax documentation by the tax filing deadlines. Tax attorneys must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to deal effectively with highly stressed clients and situations.
