Budget Analysts

Work Environment

Budget analysts work in typical office settings and have access to modern office equipment and technology. The majority of analysts work a standard 40-hour week, Monday through Friday, but may have to work overtime during development, mid-year, and final reviews of budgets. Some budget analysts travel to obtain financial information when preparing a budget or to verify funding allocations.

This job can be stressful because analysts have to meet deadlines, sometimes interact with difficult coworkers, and respond to unrealistic expectations by managers. On the other hand, many people like this job because it allows them to use their financial acumen to help their employers manage budgets effectively. A PayScale.com survey revealed that most budget analysts were "highly satisfied" with their jobs in 2024.
