Corporate Community Relations Directors

Work Environment

Corporate community relations directors work in comfortable, well-lit offices. They spend much of their day on the telephone, conducting interviews, organizing volunteers, and calling vendors. They also use computers to write news releases and send them to various media outlets, track expenses and staff hours, and send e-mail to coworkers, the media, and the public. The atmosphere may be frenzied at times, especially when the department is working on multiple projects. Most corporate community relations directors work a normal 40-hour week. However, they often work evenings and weekends when most projects such as mentoring programs, sporting events, or community galas take place.
