Cultural advisers are usually well compensated for the time they spend on projects. Many tend to work on a project basis and are therefore not guaranteed full-time employment. Rates can range from approximately $65 to as high as $265 per hour. The median rate is close to $100 per hour.

Cultural advisers who work full time earned average salaries of $94,000 in June 2024, according to Glassdoor.com. Salaries ranged from $70,000 to $130,000 or higher. Highly-skilled advisers can earn more than $200,000 annually.

Median annual earnings for training and development managers, a career that includes specialists such as cultural advisers, is $125,040 in May 2023, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Salaries ranged from $73,410 or less to $220,060 or higher.

Advisers may incur business expenses, but their clients generally pay many of the expenses associated with the work, such as travel, meals, and lodging. Full-time cultural advisers receive benefits such as health insurance, paid vacation and sick days, and a 401(k) plan.
