Landscape Architects

Work Environment

Landscape architects spend much of their time in the field gathering information at the worksite. They also spend time in the office, drafting plans and designs. Those working for larger organizations may have to travel further away to worksites.

Work hours are generally regular, except during periods of increased business or when nearing a project deadline. Hours vary for self-employed workers because they determine their own schedules.

The majority of landscape architects enjoy their careers. In fact, 80 percent of landscape architects who were surveyed by PayScale.com in 2024 reported being “highly satisfied” with their occupational choice.
