Tax managers employed in the U.S. earned an average salary of $127,002 in May 2021, according to Salary.com. The lowest paid 10 percent earned $95,579 or less and the highest paid 10 percent earned $164,242 or more per year. The Department of Labor reported that financial managers earned a median salary of $134,180 in May 2020. Salaries ranged from $70,830 to $208,000 or more. Accountants and auditors averaged $73,560 in May 2020, with salaries ranging from $45,220 to $128,680 or more.

Tax managers who are employed full time usually receive employment benefits, including health insurance coverage, paid vacation and sick time, and pension plans. Self-employed tax managers are responsible for covering payroll, payroll taxes, and other business expenses.
