Wedding and Party Consultants

Work Environment

For someone who loves weddings, parties, and meeting new people, consulting can be an ideal career. Clients may be stressed out occasionally, but most of the time they are going to be enthusiastic about planning their weddings and parties. During the week, wedding and party consultants' hours will be spent meeting with vendors, taking phone calls, and working at the computer. Weekends will be a bit faster paced, among larger crowds, and they will get to see the results of their hard work—they will be at the wedding and party sites, fussing over final details and making sure everything goes smoothly.

Their office hours won't be affected by weather conditions, but on the actual wedding and party days they are expected to get easily and quickly from one place to the other. Bad weather on the day of an outdoor wedding or party can result in more work as they move everything to the "rain site." One of the perks of wedding and party consulting is taking an active part in someone's celebration; part of the job is making sure everyone has a good time. But they also must be present for parties, weddings, receptions, and rehearsal dinners, which means they will be working weekends and occasional evenings.
