Unions and Associations
Environmental planners are not represented by unions. The major professional organization for planners is the American Planning Association (APA). The Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning is an organization of colleges and university planning programs that are accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board. The National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP) offers general information about the environmental industry. The American Institute of Certified Planners (a division of the APA) and the Academy of Board Certified Environmental Professionals offer certification. Planners who live in Canada often join the Canadian Institute of Planners.
