Hedge fund lawyers do not belong to unions. Many join national, state, and local professional associations. The American Bar Association is the most popular association for lawyers. It provides job-search information, accredits law schools, and has a Young Lawyers Division, Institutional Investors Committee, and Business Law Section. The Association of Corporate Counsel is a membership organization for in-house counsel in the United States and more than 85 other countries. It offers excellent information on careers at its Web site. The Association of American Law Schools is a nonprofit association of 175 law schools. The Law School Admission Council and the National Association for Law Placement also provide many resources for law students and lawyers. Other useful organizations include the Minority Corporate Counsel Association and the National Association of Women Lawyers.
