Work Environment

Internet quality assurance specialists can generally expect to work in clean, well-lit offices with high-tech equipment. Depending on the project, they may work independently or as part of a team. This type of job can be very intense and require long hours to complete a project. Some situations in which quality assurance specialists are driven by a strict deadline or testing and development are not progressing as planned may be stressful. Many people in the field often work more than 40 hours a week.

Many high-tech companies, especially smaller ones, have a casual office atmosphere that promotes camaraderie and teamwork. Although larger, established companies may tend to be more traditional, their computer and software departments may have more relaxed work environments. Some QA workers are able to telecommute, although most are still required to attend team meetings either via teleconferencing or on-site.

In addition, Internet quality assurance specialists who are dedicated to keeping up with technology and the Internet community must spend a considerable amount of time reading, researching, and keeping abreast of computer and Internet technology. Even under good working conditions, intensive computer work can result in eye-strain, hand and wrist injuries, and back pain.
