Mobility managers work for local governing bodies, employment and community action programs, transit systems, aging and disability resource centers, human service and social service agencies, independent living centers, and economic opportunity councils.
Starting Out
Some aspiring mobility managers break into the field after performing well during college internships or co-ops and being offered full-time jobs at small organizations. But most jobs require candidates to have at least one to three years of experience in lower-level transportation, human services, or disability services positions. Job leads can be obtained by reaching out to one’s personal and professional networks, using the resources of recruiters, attending career fairs, and applying for jobs directly at the Web sites of one’s target employers.
