Mobility Managers

Experience, Skills, and Personality Traits

Aspiring mobility managers must have one to three years of experience in progressively more responsible positions in transportation, human services, and disability services, but some entry-level positions are available.

Mobility managers must have knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act and its specific applications to public transportation, as well as federal and private programs that provide funding for their target population. They also must be skilled at using spreadsheet, database, data analytics, and word processing software and geographic information system software.

Key soft skills and other personal traits include excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously, patience, empathy, a detail-oriented personality, and the ability to analyze large amounts of information and complex issues, identify potential solutions, and develop implementation strategies.
