Patent Lawyers

Unions and Associations

Intellectual property lawyers who are employed by the government can become members of the American Federation of Government Employees. Patent lawyers in private practice typically don't unionize but there are many associations available to help network, lobby, and keep them updated on issues. One such organization is the American Intellectual Property Law Association, which also offers resources for students and practicing lawyers. Many patent lawyers will choose to join an association that is based on the city or state where they practice law.
