Sports Engineers

Engineers who demonstrate leadership ability are often promoted to the position of engineering project manager and then to director of engineering or another executive-level position at their employer. Engineers can also open their own consulting firms. Consultants have the potential to receive much higher earnings than salaried engineers do, but they are responsible for seeking out clients, hiring and managing staff, and handling other business tasks. Other engineers become college professors.
