Lawyers who are employed by government agencies can become members of the American Federation of Government Employees. The American Bar Association is the leading organization for lawyers. It provides career resources, publications, and continuing education opportunities, as well as accredits law schools. Many lawyers also join the Federal Bar Association, National Association of Women Lawyers, and countless other specialized legal associations at the national, state, and local levels. The Law School Admission Council is a nonprofit organization that offers detailed information on the Law School Admission Test and choosing and paying for law school. Other important organizations include the Association of American Law Schools, National Association for Law Placement, and the National Center for State Courts.
