Radio Frequency Identification Device Specialists

Outlook

The Department of Labor predicts slower than average employment growth for electrical and electronics engineers through 2028. However, many different types of companies will continue to need radio frequency identification device specialists to help them improve their production efficiencies by tracking their goods, products, and shipments. In May 2020, ResearchAndMarkets.com predicted that the global RFID market would grow at a compound annual rate of 10.3 percent between 2019 and 2026, reaching $31.06 billion. Notably, this optimistic forecast considered the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Growth in RFID is also expected due to its increase usage for security and access control applications and more government initiatives being introduced for RFID implementation. The retail industry has also become a high adopter of RFID technologies. RFID specialists will be in demand for their expertise with the latest RFID technologies and practices. Specialists who have prior RFID work experience, certification, and strong technology skills in software programs such as C, C++, Linux, and JUnit, to name only a few, will have the best job prospects.
