Work Environment

Tech companies typically have a laid-back work environment in which the dress code is casual, the hours are flexible, and there are game rooms and other places to relax and blow off steam during projects. On the other hand, while the hours may be flexible, developers often work more than 40 hours a week, including nights and weekend when a project is on a tight deadline. Self-employed developers can set their own schedules. For example, if they want to work 16 hours straight and then take the next day off to go to a ballgame, they can as long as they get their work done.
